Couponing: Super Doubles

My favorite grocery store, Harris Teeter started their Super Double Coupons this week!!  Super Doubles mean they will double any manufacturer coupon up to $1.98.  So, you have a $1.00 coupon, it becomes $2.00; you have a $1.50 coupon, it becomes $3.00 and so on.  Since Harris Teeter always doubles .99 and under coupons, I like to focus on my $1.00 and up coupons during Super Doubles because you're only allowed 20 coupons a day during this promotion.  Of course, I still follow my rule: I only purchase items that are on sale AND I have a coupon for.

Yesterday I started at Harris Teeter and then made a quick stop at CVS for a few items.  I did use a few under $1.00 coupons because the deals were really good and I wanted to make sure I got them before the items were sold out.  Also, some of my $1.00 and over deals were already sold out when I got to the store, so I figured I'd use some of my under $1.00 coupons since the deals were there.  I broke down some of my favorite deals from this trip below:

Harris Teeter
Sara Lee Honey Wheat Bread, $2.79/BOGO + (2) .55/1 (doubled) = .59/2 = .29 each!
Blue Diamond Almonds, $3.49/BOGO + $1/2 (doubled) = $1.49 = .75 each!  (PLUS I got a $4 off my next shopping trip from the Catalina machine because I bought 4 tubs, so I actually made $1 off this purchase!!)
Blue Diamond Nut Things, $2.99/BOGO + $1/2 (doubled) = .99 = .50 each!
Spot Shot Carpet Cleaner, $5.99/BOGO + (2) $1/1 (doubled) = $1.99 = .99 each!
Carpet Fresh Room Deodorizer, $1.99/BOGO + $1/1 (doubled) = FREE!

This shopping trip I saved $119.71, leaving me to pay only $36.69 which is a savings of 77%!

I love shopping at CVS because they have the ExtraCare Bucks which is basically like getting coupons for buying stuff.  This particular trip I purchased one tube of toothpaste (using a coupon) and received $1 back; one box of eye drops (using a coupon) and received $4 back; then purchased two Thermacare heat wraps (using 2 coupons and my ExtraCare Bucks) and received $5 back.  So this trip I saved $20, leaving me to pay $12.58 which is a savings of 62% PLUS I still have $5 ExtraCare Bucks to use on my next purchase!

Today I went back to Harris Teeter to get the rest of my deals.  I wasn't as successful as yesterday, but I'll still take it!  Here are some of my favorite deals from today:

Smart Balance Milk (1/2 gallon), $3 + $1.50/1 (doubled) = FREE!!
Select Harvest Soup, $2.49/BOGO + $1/2 (doubled) = .49 = .25 each!
Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent, $5.99/BOGO + $1/2 (doubled) = $3.99 = $1.99 each!
Chock Full O' Nuts Coffee, 11.5 oz, $3.49 + .75/1 (doubled) = $1.99

Those sippy cups were an impulse buy and I didn't have a coupon, BUT they were on clearance for $3.49 and we LOVE us some Avent sippy cups around here ; )  Also, the canned vegetables were buy 2, get 3 free and I didn't have a coupon, but they were .50 a can, so I went ahead with it.  Regardless, this trip I saved $130.46 and paid $61.77, which is a savings of 68%.  So like I said, not as successful as yesterday, but not a bad day : )

Happy Saving Everyone!
